I had a few all nighters last week, at which point my laptop went on strike and broke. After going to the doctor’s in a panic for more antidepressants, I had to drive to London to borrow my mother’s mac to carry on. I should have taken the hint and left it a while.
It is now Lent. Guess what I should be giving up for Lent, but haven’t got round to yet?
Google “internet addiction rehab” and you can find a whole raft of rehab clinics springing up all over the world. Some are brutal, like boot camps; other involve counselling and other psychological therapies such as hypnosis and CBT.
In the end, it comes down to self discipline – the very thing that is being subverted by the addiction. it is most useful to have an alternative activity handy to take your and my mind off this for a while and get busy. I live alone, so I am stuck. At least you have a girlfriend. Can she help?
