I was just surfing the net for my project on ADOLESCENTS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE and came across in various pages about headings like–“drug and alcohol abuse”.why is it that the term alcohol has been individually written rather than being considered as a type of drug only??is there a major difference between the two?

No. Alcohol is a drug, it is just more acceptable to use than crack or heroine. Caffeine is a drug too.

No not to me, alcohol is a drug…but it is a drug that is approved by the government…
It’s the same as the difference between oral sex and intercourse, yes it’s all sex but when you say “I had sex last night” it’s assumed that you mean intercourse, same with drugs/alcohol. When you are on drugs you are “high” or “stoned” and when you drink too much alcohol you are “drunk”. The only thing that seperates one from the other is the level of social acceptance. Drugs are bad and alcohol is not as bad. No difference in reality.
