I have found all of your videos very helpful so far. I am in Ontario,
Canada, and I guess things are a little (tiny bit) different over here. WE
are told we CAN taper , VERY Slowly, and Very gradually during the SECOND
TRIMESTER. However, there is still that sense of encouragement to go up in
your dose from your clinic doctors. Since I have watched your videos,
Dr.Randall Bock, I have been SO inspired to try to get off the methadone
before the baby is born in July, 2014. I have been on methadone for
several years, having my 6 carries, and was feeling quite well at 12 mg,
before I Found out I was pregnant. Maybe it was in my head, I don’t know,
but when I was first pregnant, I Did feel extreme withdrawal symptoms (or
so I Thought) and have gone up to 18 mg. I have had some other distresses
but have decided to try to stay put for as long as I Can at 18 mg,
hopefully throughout the whole pregnancy. I wanted to ask if you knew of
any Canadian doctors (I haven’t even checked to see if you are in Canada or
the U.S but I Just assumed the U.S) that could help me in the same way that
you help your patients. I am also on a moderate dose of clonazepam and have
been on it for 14 years (I know this drug is not recommended to be on for
that long, but the doctors just left me on it). No one has talked to me
about the dangers of clonazepam addiction during pregnancy. I was only told
the baby might go through some “mild and subtle” withdrawal symptoms from
the clonazepam which I do not believe to be true. I know firsthand how
hard it is to try to get off of them. I don’t want to give my baby a
double whammy. I also know there are some congenital abnormalities that can
occur with clonazepam exposure in utero, but I have found all this
information out by myself through my own research. I just wondered if you
had any colleagues in Canada , and what you would advise me to do. ?
